How to make your own carrying strap for your jumping stilts

ITEMS NEEDED

  • One standard shoulder strap from a camera bag, duffle bag, laptop bag, etc. with long, narrow metal clips.
  • Two standard 1" loose-leaf binder rings.

NOTE:  This tutorial is for jumping stilts that have an aluminum frame containing round or diamond shaped holes as pictured.

INSTRUCTIONS

You'll need to use an ordinary shoulder strap from a camera bag, duffle bag, laptop bag, etc. that has metal clips that are narrow enough to fit through the holes of the frame, and long enough to stick out of the hole on the other side of the frame a little bit. Feed the clip through one of the vertical frame holes from the front side of the stilt.

Take a 1" diameter loose-leaf ring that you can purchase at your local office supplies store and attach it to the clip as it sticks out of the hole.  Actually, any size loose-leaf ring will do as long as it is larger than the frame hole diameter.

Close the ring so it acts as an anchor to prevent the clip from pulling back out.   Repeat the same process with the other stilt.  By experimenting with different strap length adjustments and different frame holes used, you should be able to find a proper over-the-shoulder hang length.  If the strap is too long, you may need to cut and sew it shorter.

HERE'S A TIP
If you use pads that have velcro straps, you can stack them together and velcro them around your stilt frame during transport.

The below positioning of the stilts is very comfortable to carry.
